I was raised in a small coastal town in New South Wales. My childhood has largely influenced the paving of the path I walk today. My earliest memories are of pondering around our beautiful acreage of food forest with my mum, nurturing our seasonal food sources and spending hours in the kitchen creating all our home cooked meals.
Like many health practitioners who end up in this field of medicine my passion for supporting others achieve optimal health and vitality came from my own experience of adverse health. At the young age of 15 years old, my life was devoted to competing in national Athletics. I poured every part of myself into to get to the next level, cutting my times and getting fitter. In others eyes I had everything, an athletic future ahead, an athletically fit body and a determined mindset, though this passion soon became an obsession. Being an athletic female at a young age meant the body appraisal and my determination to push myself beyond limits became my identity. The perfect storm began to ruminate as I wasn’t educated on how to nourish myself for improved performance and the sickening mindset of Anorexia Nervosa took over.
After years of battling the illness there came a point I was ready to ask for help. With a team of holistic practitioners I was educated about what I was going through, what was happening to my physical body (aside from the weight loss), alongside the bi-directional communication that was resonating with declined mental health. I was empowered and educated about health in a holistic manner and soon overcame my fear of the journey of recovery, allowing me to begin to get my mind and body back into a harmonious way of living.
I knew I had gone on that tough 5 year journey for a reason. I needed to use my personal experience to support and empower others to learn how to reclaim purpose and passion for their individual health. The ability of holistic medicine, clinical nutritional medicine and client empowerment to transform my health, wellness and vitality lead me study my first degree in Clinical Nutritional Medicine. This degree has provided me with the foundation of which I will specialize in gut health, fertility and hormone health.
I believe each individual deserves to live a life of balanced health and vitality via getting to the root cause of ill-health, optimizing individual nutrient metabolism and prioritizing our microbiome heath.
